Generative AI Music App
reimagines the intimate, curated experience of a vinyl bar for the digital age.
The idea for this app is to bridge a gap in music streaming services to fuse generative AI, interactive music discovery, and social experiences into one cohesive platform.
It’s immersive design creates a platform where users can listen, remix, curate, and connect.
The concept blends the nostalgia of vinyl culture with cutting-edge AI to craft an experience that feels both timeless and futuristic.
Key features include:
Dynamic listening rooms that recreate the social experience of curated music spaces.
AI-powered sound lab where users can remix tracks, generate playlists, and experiment with music.
A vinyl-inspired UI that moves beyond traditional streaming interfaces, creating a tactile, engaging experience.
User profiles that showcase personal curation, remixes, and music collections.

Home
The goal is to make music discovery feel immersive and curated.
The home page highlights recently played albums, trending listening rooms, and new music recommendations based on the user's listening history.
Unlike a typical scrolling UI, users can flip through album covers like they would dig through crates of vinyl in a record store.
Listening Room
Think of a listening room as the digital equivalent of a vinyl bar - a space where music lovers can come to listen together in real-time.
Every listening room has a curator (human or AI) that selects every track.
Rather than a typical playlist - this creates a communal experience where listeners can engage in live discussions with each other and the curator.
The Sound Lab
The Sound Lab feels like a musical playground.
Experimentation is encouraged in this AI-powered space where users can remix popular songs, generate original sounds, and create listening rooms.
And when the user finalizes their creation, they can share it with the world and find it again on their profile.
User Profile
In this app, every user is both a listener and a creator.
The profile is a living portfolio for users to showcase (and show off) their music taste and creative talents.
Here anyone can browse the user's curated listening rooms, digital vinyl collection, and original tracks.
SCROLL TO SEE MORE ON MY PROCESS

Pulling Inspiration
When brainstorming the aesthetics and color scheme for the app, I took inspiration from real vinyl bars, vinyl records, turntables, and vintage Japanese graphics.
The key patterns I saw:
Dark backgrounds
Warm lighting and bright colors
Simple, clean typography
I ended up choosing a simple color palette and dark UI for the app, so that the album covers and art would stand out.
My goal is to create an intimate vibe that calms the user and doesn’t distract the user from the music, which is the most important part.
Wireframing
I started to get a feel for the layout and how the app might function…

Prototyping
To make the prototype for the app, I used Figma for the screens and Spline to create the 3D animations (stack of albums, record, headphones).

Why do we care?
Working on this project, I realized just how stale music streaming apps are - they are generally passive and isolated experiences that rely heavily on algorithms.
Traditional streaming services (i.e. Spotify, Apple Music) offer massive libraries and existing AI music tools focus on generation, but both lack space for community and creative exploration.
There is an unmet need for a music platform that bridges AI-powered generation with the intimacy of shared listening and music curation.
It's time to make music discovery feel personal again.
This app has the potential to revolutionize digital music experiences by putting the power in the hands of users, inviting them to become both creators, curators and listeners.
So that's why.
